How to register PTEC Online?

The Profession Tax Act, 1975 says that an individual registered under the MGST Act is liable to enrol for Professional Tax Enrolment Certificate (PTEC Registration) and has to pay Rs.2500/- per annum.  All taxpayers registered under GST has to abide by the Compliance and Registration regulations of PTEC.

What is PTEC?

PTEC stands for Professional Tax Enrolment Certificate. This registration is required to conduct business in several states of India. PTEC allows the payment of professional tax for a business entity or for a business owner. In case the Company and LLP have no payable employee even then PTEC is needed to be paid.

Applicability of PTEC:

Every person who is engaged in any profession (business or service) excluding that of Partnership firm or HUF is liable to pay a professional tax of Rs. 2,500/- p.a. with the government every year after the incorporation or commencement of business. (LLP and All Companies are covered)

Documents Required For PTEC Registration:

  • Pan of the applicant
  • Aadhaar Card copy
  • Cancelled Cheque
  • Passport size photo
  • Latest electricity bill of the register office/ place of business (In case of the rented property then rent agreement)
  • Photo Signature
  • Details of Business
  • No of employees at the workplace
  • Date of Commencement of business
  • Email ID and Mobile no of the applicant

Registration & Filling of PTEC and PTRC is Mandatory for:

  • All types of paid professionals working or trading in India.
  • According to the regulation, every professional acquiring a regular monthly wage is obliged to pay this particular tax. The professionals would get a unique registration number by registering in the P-Tax portal and using that they can pay the P-Tax therefore.
  • P-Tax registration is the responsibility of every business owner, who shall deduct the professional tax from an employee’s salary and expense for fulfilling the very regulation.

Who are exempted from paying Professional Tax?

  • Foreign employees are exempt from paying profession tax.
  • Indians employed by the Foreign Office and consultant are excluded from taking the certificate of registration.
